Ministry: Russia threshes 128 mln tns of grain as of Fri

MOSCOW, Oct 6 (PRIME) -- Russian farmers threshed 127.976 million tonnes of grain in bunker weight from 42.697 million hectares as of Friday compared with 112.815 million tonnes from 43.267 million hectares last year as of the corresponding date, a rise of 14.9% on the year, the Agriculture Ministry said in a statement.

The crop yield fell 0.3% on the year to 30 metric centner per hectare.

The wheat harvest amounted to 85.516 million tonnes and the barley harvest stood at 21.1 million tonnes.

Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachyov said in late September that Russian farmers will harvest more than 127 million tonnes of grain in 2017, which was the country’s historical record in 1978.
